100th Birthday party at Allied Services Center City

Staff at Allied Services Center City Residence in Wilkes-Barre gathered to help celebrate the milestone birthday of one of its much-loved residents, Eleanor Yasenchak. Eleanor was born in Larksville on November 25th, 1919. She has been a resident at Allied Services since September 2015.

Eleanor married the love of her life, her late husband Joseph, and together, they shared 52 years of marriage. Mr. & Mrs. Yasenchak had 3 beautiful children and 3 grandchildren. After graduating in 1936, Eleanor worked at the local Woolworths store. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed knitting or crocheting, tatting, traveling, and cooking. She states her favorite thing to cook was spaghetti sauce. In fact, she still has dreams about it today.

She enjoys socializing in the dining room, occasionally playing BINGO, and being a “big sister” to her sister Rose, who also resides at Center City. When asked what her secret to reaching 100 years was, she simply states, “The good Lord was good to me.”

Representative Eddie Day Pashinski was on hand to present Ms. Yasenchak a citation for her milestone birthday. Eleanor was also joined by her fellow residents, close relatives, and friends on her birthday at Allied Services Center City Residence.

Allied Services Center City Residence, formerly St. Luke's Villa Personal Care Home, is a 48-bed personal care facility. Center City offers a warm, home-like environment for seniors, tailored to those residents who still maintain a certain level of independence, but may need some assistance with activities of daily living.
