For 20 years, Marylou Chibirka has been painting portraits. One of her more recent projects, has taken over two years to finish. We caught up with Chibirka in her Dalton, Lackawanna County home as she was finishing off one of her 75 oil-painted portraits of patients at Allied Services.
Chibirka said she had permission from Allied Services to paint a portrait for the patients, and the money came out of her pocket. Now that she's finished, she's hoping to create an art exhibit of the portraits.
"Every single face was exciting to paint," Chibirka said. "It was just a project I loved getting my hands on and involved in. Everyone was a challenge and I love a challenge, but I also was looking for the essence of the person."
Allied Services helps people in our area with debilitating and long-terms illnesses. Chibirka is awaiting the next step from Allied to move forward with the portraits and the possible exhibit."
