Welcoming Allied Services Hospice Volunteer Coordinator
Allied Services Hospice recently welcomed Kathleen Haikes to its team. Kathleen will serve as the Volunteer Coordinator for both Allied Services In-Home Hospice Care and the new inpatient Hospice Center in Scranton.
A graduate of Marywood University, Kathleen has a long history as a volunteer in the local community. Prior to joining Allied Services, Kathleen worked as Volunteer Coordinator at Traditional Home and Hospice. I have had the opportunity to see the direct impact of a hospice volunteer and it is an amazing & rewarding experience for all involved.
“I’ve seen first-hand, just how valuable hospice volunteers can be to patients and their families, and how rewarding it can be as a volunteer. I’ve had the opportunity to make very real connections with patients and to provide comfort during a difficult time” comments Kathleen.
Kathleen lives in Scranton with husband, David, daughter Elizabeth, 17 year old, son David 16 year old and our German Shepherd Sadie. She is a running coach with Scranton Running Company and serves as President of Matthew’s Mission, the foundation she started in memory of her brother, Matthew Newell. Matthew’s Mission donates funds to individuals with special needs in the local area.
