Celebrating Professional Growth: Allied Services Physical Therapist Earns Certificate of Competency in Vestibular Rehabilitation (CCVR)

At Allied Services, we take immense pride in the dedication and achievements of our team members. Today, we are thrilled to highlight the remarkable accomplishment of one of our physical therapists, who has recently earned the Certificate of Competency in Vestibular Rehabilitation (CCVR).

What is Vestibular Rehabilitation?

Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialized form of therapy aimed at alleviating problems caused by vestibular disorders. These disorders affect the inner ear and brain areas that control balance and eye movements. Common symptoms include dizziness, vertigo, balance issues, and vision problems. Vestibular rehabilitation focuses on reducing these symptoms through targeted exercises and treatments, significantly improving the quality of life for patients.

The Journey to CCVR

Maureen Boyd, PT, DPT, recently completed the Competency in Vestibular Rehabilitation program. Earning the Certificate of Competency in Vestibular Rehabilitation is no small feat. This certification requires extensive training, rigorous coursework, and a deep commitment to mastering the complexities of vestibular disorders. Maureen underwent comprehensive education and hands-on training, demonstrating their expertise and dedication to providing top-notch care.

A long-tenured employee of Allied Services, Maureen joined the non-profit health system in 1994 and holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Scranton. Maureen sees patients at Allied Services Dunmore Center. She is an experienced physical therapist who regularly treats patients with various conditions, including balance and vestibular disorders, back and neck pain, stroke, and other neurological conditions.

Vestibular Rehab at Allied Services

Dizziness, vertigo, disequilibrium, blurred or bouncing vision, nausea, and anxiety are common symptoms that may result from an issue with your vestibular system. These symptoms may range from mild, lasting only seconds or minutes to severe, restricting activity.

Our specially trained therapists help patients decrease dizziness, minimize falls, reduce their need for medication, and improve activity levels. Using the latest advancements in technology and knowledge from experts trained in vestibular rehabilitation, our team will develop a program specifically tailored to your needs.
