Employee Spotlight: Krystle Marusin, RN

Employee Spotlight: Krystle Marusin, RN

Krystle Marusin, RN, joined Allied Services Home Health in August 2020. After working in a hospital setting for most of her career, she was ready for a change. Despite switching jobs during the height of the pandemic, Krystle couldn’t be happier with her decision.

“I love it! I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else.”

Krystle admits that making the jump from acute care nursing to home health nursing was initially daunting. There was a steep learning curve as she adjusted to the differences in delivering care in a home setting. Although this was hard, she felt supported throughout the process. With the support of the nursing team, Krystle increased her caseload gradually.

“The orientation was by far the best I’ve been through. The training was phenomenal. They let you learn at your own pace. I always felt that the positive feedback and constructive criticism were there to help me be more successful.”

Krystle is one of a team of nurses who provide clinical healthcare to patients in their homes under the supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner. While most home health nurses take care of older adults with disabilities, they also serve patients recently discharged from hospitals needing additional care and homebound patients who need support managing a chronic condition or disease.

This kind of nursing alongside therapy services and care from home health aides enables individuals to remain in their own home and improves quality of life for people.

“It’s a really rewarding role. You work with patients on their own terms and help them learn how to manage their disease process. You have the chance to help people find what works best for their way of life and how they want to be able to live.”

“On a personal level, home health nursing works for me because of the flexibility it allows. It’s given me a great work/life balance. I’m in charge of my schedule, which means that I can make my schedule around my life. I don’t need to miss my kids’ appointments.”

Allied Services Home Health is a 10+ year HomeCare Elite top-performing agency with consistently high patient satisfaction ratings. The home health team serves patients in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties.
