At Allied Services, we understand that mealtime challenges can be stressful for both children and families. Our Picky Eaters & Sensory Feeding Program is designed to help children develop a healthy relationship with food while building the skills they need to eat safely, confidently, and successfully.
A Specialized Approach to Feeding Therapy
The John P. Moses, Esq. Pediatric Rehab Centers provide comprehensive rehabilitation services for children of all ages. Our Pediatric Program focuses on each child’s unique strengths and abilities in a supportive, family-centered environment.
For children experiencing feeding difficulties, our team of speech and occupational therapists with advanced training work collaboratively to evaluate and treat a wide range of challenges, including:
Limited food variety or refusal to try new foods
Sensory sensitivities to textures, smells, or appearances
Oral motor delays impacting chewing and swallowing
Behavioral challenges during mealtimes
Difficulty transitioning to age-appropriate diets
Understanding Feeding Challenges
Some children have difficulty eating due to a disruption in the swallowing process, known as dysphagia. Others may struggle with sensory processing differences that make certain foods overwhelming or uncomfortable.
Our therapists are specially trained to identify the root cause of feeding issues and create individualized treatment plans that address:
Sensory processing (how a child experiences food)
Oral motor skills (chewing, swallowing, coordination)
Behavioral patterns around eating
Environmental and routine factors impacting mealtimes
Individualized, Child-Centered Care
For more than four decades, our Pediatric Program has provided comprehensive evaluations and personalized therapy plans for children of all abilities and diagnoses. In our feeding program, we:
Use play-based and evidence-based strategies to introduce new foods
Gradually expand food variety in a low-pressure, supportive setting
Build confidence and independence during mealtimes
Incorporate advanced rehabilitation techniques and tools
Partner closely with families to ensure success at home
Family Involvement is Key
We believe parents and caregivers are essential to a child’s success. Our team works alongside families to:
Provide practical strategies for home and school
Create consistent routines that support progress
Set meaningful, achievable goals together
Our goal is to help each child reach their highest potential while making mealtimes more positive and enjoyable for the entire family.
