Team Allied Runner Celebrates 100th Marathon - Sets Sights on 101st at Tokyo Marathon
- Posted On:
When Amy Neugebauer crossed the finish line of the Bermuda Marathon recently, she didn’t just complete another race - she reached a milestone years in the making: her 100th marathon.
For the Honesdale native, educator, coach, and long-time advocate, the moment marked more than a number. It was a celebration of perseverance, passion, and purpose - and the starting point for what comes next.
On March 1, 2026, Amy will lace up again as part of Team Allied Services at the Tokyo Marathon, where she’ll take on marathon #101 on one of the world’s biggest stages of distance running. Tokyo will also mark her second completion of the Abbott World Marathon Majors Six-Star challenge, solidifying her place among an elite group of runners worldwide.
And she’s doing it all for charity.
Already, supporters have rallied behind Amy’s Tokyo campaign, including generous sponsorship from the Wayne County Community Foundation, helping her fundraising efforts gain strong early momentum.
A Life Shaped by Running and Resilience
Amy’s story is one of grit, passion, and unwavering determination. A secondary school counselor at Honesdale High School and a Level 2 CrossFit coach at CrossFit Honesdale, she has built a life that inspires everyone she meets.
She ran her first marathon in October 2009 - and never looked back. Since then, her accomplishments have continued to stack up. On November 2, 2025, she completed the TCS New York City Marathon, marking marathon #98. Just one week later, she returned to the start line for marathon #99 at the St. Luke’s D&L Race Fest.
That momentum carried her into January 2026, when she proudly completed her 100th marathon in Bermuda, a milestone that reflects years of discipline, consistency, and love for the sport.
Amy has also qualified for and run the Boston Marathon 14 times, including the tragic 2013 race when the finish line was struck by bombs that claimed lives and injured hundreds. She plans to return again in 2026, continuing a tradition rooted in remembrance, resilience, and community.
Facing a Rare Diagnosis with Strength
In 2019, Amy’s life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with dermatomyositis, a rare autoimmune disease that causes muscle weakness, extreme fatigue, and painful skin rashes. Managing the condition requires ongoing IVIG (intravenous immunoglobulin) infusions - yet she continues to train, coach, and race at the highest levels.
What could have stopped her instead became fuel.
Rather than stepping away, Amy chose to keep going - not only for herself, but for others facing life-changing challenges every day. That resilience makes her journey to Tokyo, and her 101st marathon, even more meaningful.
Running for Something Bigger
For her Tokyo Marathon campaign, Amy is running with Team Allied Services, raising critical funds to support children and adults living with disabilities, chronic illnesses, and injuries. Her goal is to raise at least $5,000, with hopes of doubling that impact - and she's well on her way.
As Amy says, “Every dollar brings someone else closer to hope and healing.”
Crossing Oceans with Purpose
Representing Team Allied Services in Tokyo will take Amy, and her teammate Michael Lopatofsky of Clifford, more than 6,700 miles from home, across oceans and continents, to a world-class marathon known for its energy, culture, and global spirit.
With every mile, they’ll be raising awareness - and funds - for a mission that matters deeply to them and to the thousands of individuals and families served by Allied Services each year.
This is more than a marathon. More than a milestone. More than a medal. It’s a testament to strength in the face of adversity - and a reminder that when we run with purpose, we can go farther than we ever imagined.
