AUDRA HUGHES Wilkes-Barre, PA Team Member 2018 & 2019
Team Allied Services Ambassadors
I ran my first marathon last year as a member of the RR9 team. I am a strong believer in Allied’s mission and am truly inspired by the miracles performed daily at Allied Services. I have loved ones who have received outstanding care through Allied Services and have witnessed how much of a difference they can make in someone’s life.
On November 3, Audra Hughes will run the 2019 TCS New York City Marathon. A veteran marathoner and proud employee of Mohegan Sun Pocono, a major sponsor of Team Allied Services, Audra is excited to run the iconic marathon on behalf of Allied Services. She is dedicating this year’s marathon to Logan Czyzycki.
Logan is 17 years old and lives with his family in Swoyersville. Recently, Logan was diagnosed with a very rare genetic disorder called Glucose Transporter Deficiency (GLUT 1). For 16 years, his doctors and family thought Logan had Cerebral Palsy, because GLUT 1 so closely mimics its symptoms. Introducing Logan to the Ketogenic Diet has helped control his seizures along with spasticity, his gait, and speech.
Logan has been receiving therapy at the Heinz Rehab Hospital in Wilkes-Barre for 9 years. He is a big fan of superheroes, in particular, Captain America. Logan’s superhero power is determination. He will stop at nothing to be mobile and works hard to be independent. Through his hard work, he can walk with a walker, and has been seen cutting up the roads on his new bike.
Logan is a very loving young man. He loves hanging out with his sister Raegan, his family and their dogs, Duncan and Spencer, whom he adores. For the 5k & All Abilities Walk this year, Raegan designed wristbands for her brother that say #CaptainAmericaHasNothingOnMe and we think that says it all!
