WNEP’S TEAM ALLIED SERVICES 9: CAMPAIGN KICKOFF DETAILS

WNEP’s Team Allied Services is celebrating its ninth year of helping to change the lives of kids and adults with disabilities served by Allied Services.
The charity campaign is spearheaded by WNEP-TV’s morning ball of energy Newswatch 16’s Ryan Leckey.
As is the tradition as part of the campaign kickoff, a free concert event is on tap at Mohegan Sun Pocono near Wilkes-Barre as part of “Party On The Patio.”
The free concert starts at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2018. It features the Bon Jovi tribute band “Bon-Jersey.” Although the concert is free, the event gives folks a chance to meet this year’s team of runners (Team Leckey) and donate to receive the newest Team Allied Services athletic shirt.
Money raised throughout WNEP’s Team Allied Services is earmarked to help Allied Services purchase cutting-edge rehabilitation technology to change lives here at home.
Allied Services is one of our area’s largest nonprofits with a mission of “providing miracles in rehab.”
Our campaign takes place from August through November. The “run” portion of the campaign involves Ryan Leckey and 50 other area runners taking a trek in the TCS New York City Marathon on November 4, 2018.
The motto for Team Allied Services is: Inspiring Fitness. Challenging Disability. Changing Lives.

Our biggest community event is WNEP’s Team Allied Services 5K/All-Abilities Walk. It takes place Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the track at the Scranton High School. Stay tuned here for the link to signup early.

A few fun facts about WNEP’s Team Allied Services:
- Team Allied Services earned the silvery charity status by the New York Road Runners. The status puts our campaign on the same level as internationally respected organizations such as UNICEF.
- This year’s runners were chosen during the winter months through applications submitted through WNEP and Allied.
- To date, WNEP’s Team Allied Services has raised nearly $3 million to help kids and adults with disabilities throughout northeastern and central Pennsylvania.
- The campaign has also received multiple honors. Team Allied Services was named by the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters as an “Outstanding Television Public Service Campaign.”
