WNEP’S TEAM ALLIED SERVICES RAISED HALF A MILLION WITH HELP OF COMMUNITY

On November 6, 2016, WNEP’s Ryan Leckey and a team of 48 other local athletes competed in the TCS New York City Marathon. This was the 40th running of the five boroughs and a race that featured more than 50,000 finishers. For the athletes representing WNEP’s Team Allied Services, the race was the culmination of months of training and fundraising. On November 11, the campaign, now in its 7th year, came to close with the announcement that a total of $502,315 was raised in for Allied Services in 2016.

The campaign officially kicked off in late-August at a concert hosted by 7-year corporate sponsor Mohegan Sun Pocono. In the following months, the Team Leckey runners put in many training miles to prepare for the big race, all while raising funds for the cause. Supporters turned out to cheer on runners and walkers at the Fourth Annual Team Allied Services 5k and All-Abilities Walk, purchased official Team Allied Services shirts and participated in fundraisers hosted by local schools, running clubs, and more, all to benefit the campaign.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the continued generosity of our community, corporate sponsors, employees, local schools and runners” commented William Conaboy, President and CEO of Allied Services Integrated Health System.

“We’re fortunate to have the support of so many partners and individuals who are committed to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities and life-changing injuries.”

Thanks to the support of WNEP TV, its major sponsors and the generosity of the local community, the Team Allied Services campaign has raised more than $2.1 million since 2010.  The proceeds from the Team Allied Services campaign will benefit individuals with disabilities and life-changing injuries served by Allied Services, enabling the non-profit health system to invest in cutting-edge technology and services throughout Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania.

Allied Services wish to thank media sponsors WNEP TV-15, corporate sponsors Baker Tilly, Jack Williams Tire, Mohegan Sun Pocono, Northeastern Rehabilitation Associates P.C., Open Access Marketing, Weis Markets, Lamar Advertising, signature event sponsors Aon, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and Quantum Rehab, and the many Team Allied Services supporters for their outstanding commitment to supporting children and adults with disabilities. ?
