Employee Spotlight: Juan Cholula, Food Service Worker

Employee Spotlight: Juan Cholula, Food Service Worker

Meet Juan Cholula of Scranton. He’s one of a growing number of students finding a happy balance between work and school thanks to flexible work schedules at Allied Services.

Juan is a Senior at Penn State Worthington majoring in Business. After graduation, he plans to go into Real Estate and one day, open a clothing boutique. For now, he’s staying on track by working part-time as a Food Service Worker at Allied Services Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center in Scranton.

“Honestly, I could work in a fast food restaurant, but they’re not going to care for you like they do here at Allied Services” says Juan.

Juan has worked at Allied Services since February 2017 and has found that he is able to juggle work and school.

“My supervisors really care about me. They ask about my school work and are really flexible with my schedule so that I don’t miss important exams or run out of time to get my school work finished. They’re really understanding and that makes a difference.”

Juan says that his co-workers are what make the job worthwhile. Many of his coworkers are also students, and he gets along well with his supervisors. It’s a family atmosphere which helps the work go by quickly.

In recent weeks, Juan has been helping out in the dining room, serving residents as they return to small group, socially distanced dining.

“The residents are so happy to be able to eat together again and it’s been fun to be part of that and to chat with them.”

Thank you, Juan, for serving our patients and residents.
