New rehab unit opens at John Heinz Institute

A newly expanded 45-bed transitional rehab unit opened on the second floor of Allied Services John Heinz Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine in Wilkes-Barre Twp.

Community partners, patients, professionals and staff celebrated the re-opening Monday that took place after months of planning, renovations and upgrades.

The unit is designed to meet the needs of patients requiring short-term skilled nursing care who don’t match the typical rehab or long-term care skilled nursing profile.
