Allied Services Hospice to host Healing Yoga classes
Community Services
Allied Services Integrated Health System is proud to host Healing Yoga. This seven-class series welcomes anyone experiencing grief in any form or state, and aims to unite the mind, body and spirit to aid in a self-supporting, nurturing grieving process.
Classes are set to kick-off on Monday, July 30th at 1:15p.m. with a “Meet & Greet” with yoga instructor, Mindy Hill.
Throughout the series, Hill will lead students in the practice of Hatha yoga, an ancient discipline comprised of movements and meditation intended to nurture the heart and relieve the physical manifestations of grief while encouraging students to journey and explore their heartache in a supportive environment.
The class is designed to include people experiencing all levels and types of grief, such as the mourning of a previous or recent passing of a loved one or pet, or even the loss of a job. Prior yoga experience is not necessary. Movements and meditation will be performed in a standard chair and modifications and adaptations will be offered to students with injuries, limitations or health concerns.
Classes will be held every Monday afternoon from 1:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. in the Community Room at Allied Services Scranton Luger Rehab Center, 475 Morgan Highway, Scranton. While the classes are free and open to the public, pre-registration is requested. Participants can attend one or as many sessions as they would like. (Program note: There will be no class on Monday, September 3rd due to the Labor Day holiday. Classes will resume on Monday, September 10th and the last class will be held on September 17th.)
