Students in the occupational therapy program at the University of Scranton recently presented Allied Services therapists with weighted stuffed animals to share with children who have sensory processing disorders such as autism or ADHD. The weight provides a calming sensation and can help some children focus and pay attention better, reduce anxiety, and improve sleep. The weighted toys are a cute therapeutic option for the classroom, during mealtimes, long car rides, sleeping, or even watching television.
