Jocelyn Pratt, CNA
Career Spotlights
Jocelyn Pratt hasn’t let a few bumps in the road get in the way of her desired career in healthcare. As a graduate of Mountain View High School, and life long resident of nearby Glenwood, Jocelyn always dreamed of a career in pediatrics. After starting a family, she chose to pursue a career in nursing.
Jocelyn spent two years studying at Keystone College, followed by two years at Penn State University. Along with her classroom studies, she also did clinical rotations at three area hospitals. Jocelyn joined Allied Services Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in 2004 and became a Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) in 2005, after some difficulty with her Registered Nurse licensing exam; an exam she is looking forward to conquering soon.
Everyone knows that CNA duties can be physically taxing, but Jocelyn notes the importance of the more simple activities of our daily lives that really matter when caring for another person’s loved one. Whether it’s washing their face and combing their hair, or tucking in their sheets and folding a blanket, it is the attention to detail that makes a big difference for residents and their families.
After eleven and a half years at Allied Services Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, Jocelyn has gotten to know exactly how some of our long term residents like their coffee or how they like their room kept. “By making them feel comfortable and better about themselves, they start to feel better overall” says Jocelyn.
Taking the time to learn individual resident’s needs to help them feel at ease may be above and beyond to some, but for Jocelyn, it’s just a part of doing her job right. “We’re here for them. For some, we are their family.”
In addition to taking care of long term residents, Jocelyn often gets work with short term patients. She takes great pride in being a part of the “Allied Team” that helps these short term residents reach their goal of returning to their own home. “From the nurses, doctors, and therapists; to dietary, pharmacy and all the staff in between, each person plays a role in making the resident feel better. “ Jocelyn is honored to be a part of this team that makes each resident’s day better and she looks forward to continuing her career at Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center and Rehab Center.
