Our Work Services Program meets the service
delivery and vocational needs of people with mental and physical disabilities. The
program provides growth through education,
challenge and opportunity through:
- Vocational activities – individuals earn wages as they gain experience managing a job
- Developmental activities – focus on work awareness, social competence, communication, cognition, health, hygiene, safety and fitness
- Goal plans and assessment – individuals participate in quarterly reviews of vocational goals
- Placement services – job opportunities are made accessible to those individuals who express an interest and demonstrate appropriate skills
- Janitorial Mobile Workforce – The program provides both basic and advanced custodial training in a variety of settings. The goal is to develop necessary skills for employment in the janitorial trade. For information call (570) 348-5379 or (570) 348–5387.
- Carpet Cleaning Transitional Employment Program – Individuals are trained in the operation of a truck mounted carpet extraction system for residential, business and industrial clients. For information call (570) 348–5379 or (570) 348–5387.
- Work Services Program – A day program designed to teach individuals skills needed to be a productive employee and gain experience managing job responsibilities. For information call (570) 341 – 4694 or (570) 348–1369.
- Community Employment Program – Provides competitive employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. For information call (570) 348-2216 or (570) 348–2225.
- Vocational Evaluation and Personal Work Adjustment Training Program – A vocational evaluation is comprised of a series of tests that assess an individual’s strengths and weaknesses and assists in formulating a vocational goal plan. For information call (570) 348–5387.
- Handicapped Employment Program – Provides a means to develop or refine vocational skills for individuals with little or no work experience. For information call (570) 348–5387.
Our Work Study Program is a day program for students with disabilities and that helps to develop vocational skills for future employment. Potential students:
- Must be at least 16 years old and have working papers
- Must be referred and authorized for the program by the Northeast Intermediate Unit or a school district
