Weis Markets Proud Seven Year Sponsors of WNEP’s Ryan’s Run

Allied Services Integrated Health System is proud to announce Weis Markets as a returning major sponsor of WNEP’s Ryan’s Run 8, the annual campaign to raise funds for children and adults with disabilities at Allied Services. As a 7-year major sponsor, Weis Markets has donated more than $100,000 to Allied Services. The funds, along with donations from individuals, school, businesses and other major sponsors, enable the non-profit health system to invest in cutting-edge rehab technology, services and staff to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities and life-changing injuries.

“We’re proud to be a Major Sponsor of Ryan’s Run and to be helping individuals and families affected by life-changing injuries and disabilities get the care they need” said Dennis Curtin, Director of Public Relations. “As a locally focused retailer, we are committed to giving back to the communities we serve and are pleased to be working with the Allied Team.”

On November 5, WNEP TV’s Ryan Leckey and 50 other area runners will complete the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon. The legendary footrace marks the culmination of the WNEP’s Ryan’s Run campaign and months of fundraising and awareness-raising for Allied Services. Weis Markets will be represented by Adrianne Filkovsky, Assistant Store Manager, Weis Markets in Scott Township.

Bark in the Waterpark Sends off Summer

SCRANTON — Some people went for a swim with some pups in Scranton Sunday.

Montage Mountain Resort hosted its Bark in the Waterpark event to mark the end of its summer season.

Pups and their owners could splash around in the wave pool, check out goodies from area vendors, and even practice some doggy yoga or “doga.”

Money raised will benefit WNEP’s Ryan’s Run 8, which raises money for kids and adults with disabilities served by Allied Services.

Weis Markets Gives Back: Changing Lives In More Ways Than One

Stocking the shelves and changing lives! It’s the goal behind Weis Markets’ 10th annual “Fight Hunger” campaign across our area. The project is now underway through Oct. 4.

To date, the supermarket corporation has raised more than a million dollars for local food banks in our area.

The grocery store chain is also one of eight corporate sponsors of WNEP-TV’s Ryan’s Run 8. The charity campaign raises money for kids and adults with disabilities served by Allied Services. You can support WNEP’s Ryan’s Run at this link!

Newswatch 16’s Ryan Leckey visited the Weis store in the Clarks Summit area Thursday morning to explain how people can get involved in the “Fight Hunger” campaign, the items you can donate, and the places that’ll benefit.

Earlier this month, when Weis first kicked off its “Fight Hunger” campaign, the supermarket allocated its first week of fundraising efforts to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Just over $214,000 was raised for the cause.
