Sportsmetrics™

Girl playing soccerAllied Services Spine & Sports Medicine Center is the only certified clinical site for Sportsmetrics™ in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Sportsmetrics™  is the first and only training program scientifically proven to decrease serious knee ligament injuries in female athletes and even enhance their level of performance.  For those who have sustained a knee injury, the program can help to optimize recovery.  Recent research has shown that the program can also deliver significant benefits to male athletes.

This six-week training program consists of three one-hour sessions per week.  It incorporates four components:

  • Dynamic warm-up using sport specific motions
  • Jump training (plyometrics)
  • High intensity strength training
  • Flexibility training for increased range of motion and agility

Digital imaging and computer analysis allow us to develop programs to correct improper jumping, landing, pivoting and cutting techniques and to build optimal balance and control of lower extremity muscular strength.

Jump training is the core of the Sportsmetrics™  Program.  Key factors emphasized are proper posture, body alignment, jumping straight up with no excessive movement, soft landings, and correct preparation for the next jump. Goals are to decrease harmful landing forces at the knee and increase muscular endurance, power, strength and speed.

Sportsmetrics™  is designed and structured to progress the athlete from technique development to performance enhancement.  It has been clinically proven to:

  • Significantly reduce the risk of serious knee injuries – up to 4 times
  • Increase vertical jump by an average of 10% – up to 4 inches
