The Pediatric Program at Allied Services provides comprehensive physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy to children of all ages with a variety of diagnoses. Rehabilitation professionals partner with families to meet the needs of their children. Family education is ongoing, with emphasis on carry-over of newly acquired skills in the home environment.

The Pediatric Program seeks to enhance the quality of life for each child and adolescent, to promote a continuum of care from hospital to home, school and community.

For over two decades, Allied Services has provided comprehensive pediatric rehabilitation services for children who are disabled or injured. Technologies Involved

The Balance Master A computerized evaluation and treatment tool used to treat balance dysfunction. It provides an objective assessment enabling the therapist to guide the patient in balance training, adaptation/habituation exercises to relieve dizziness, visual motor control exercises to stabilize one?s gaze, and or gait training. Interactive Metronome Incorporates state-of-the-art technology that radically benefits patients with neurological disorders affecting motor skills and information processing. The incorporation of visual and auditory components enables patients to execute daily tasks and activities with great ease while assisting in the development of rhythm and balance. Interactive Metronome involves putting the patient into a technological environment in which he or she listens to various tempos and simultaneously performs corresponding actions.?This rehabilitation equipment proves to result in a dramatic improvement in brain development and coordination advancement.

LiteGait? The LiteGait is a therapy device used to promote the generation of walking patterns by controlling weight bearing, balance, and posture during walking therapy. LiteGait is like a second set of hands, because it frees the therapist to observe gait patterns and make manual adjustments in limb placement, weight shift, walking symmetry, and gait training. Proper upright posture is maintained throughout the training session, which facilitates changes in posture, balance, specific muscle strength, and overall gait patterns. The LiteGait can be used over ground or with a treadmill.

Reo Therapy? Provides an entirely new approach to delivering therapy for neurorehabilitation of the upper extremities following stroke, head injury or other neurological diagnosis. The robot-assisted training program is customized for each patient?s current condition and upgraded based on functional improvements. The Reo provides an engaging, motivating program of functionally oriented repetitive exercises. The Reo can help reduce tone and pain and improve strength and coordination of the affected extremity.

SaeboFlex The SaeboFlex is a custom orthosis that allows patients the ability to incorporate the involved hand in functional reaching exercises in therapy and at home by supporting the weakened wrist, hand, and fingers. The brace attaches to the forearm, hand and fingers and assists with release during grasp activities.

VitalStim? An adjunctive modality that combines electrical stimulation with traditional swallowing exercises, allowing therapists to accelerate strengthening, restore function, and help the brain remap the swallow. Research has demonstrated that combining these therapies results in better outcomes than using either one alone.

VTree A virtual reality system that works with both the physically and developmentally challenged. Programming works to promote: education, range of motion, life skills, balance, eye-hand coordination, speech, visual tracking, social skills, and behavior. Virtual programs are designed for both pediatric and adult clients.

Continuum of Care

To provide the best care possible for patients recovering from a debilitating condition or injury, Allied Services provides a comprehensive, seamless continuum of rehabilitative care. Our outpatient programs are primarily for people living safely at home who have completed or did not require a post-acute inpatient stay, but require additional rehabilitative therapy to alleviate physical limitation or pain.

If a patient suffering from a debilitating condition or injury requires intensive, around-the-clock nursing and/or therapy services, but cannot tolerate or does not require the intensity of therapy delivered during an inpatient rehab hospital stay, or their insurance does not cover inpatient rehabilitation, they would be an appropriate candidate for a transitional or long-term stay at our skilled nursing facility. Conversely, if the patient requires 24-hour care and can tolerate the intensity of a stay at one of our rehabilitation hospitals, they would be best suited for a stay at one of our inpatient facilities.

Patient Outcomes

At Allied Services, patient outcome metrics such as average number of visits, pain reduction, reduced function limitation, and likelyhood of recommending Allied Services to others, are among the best in the United States:

• 98% of our outpatient population reported that their overall rating of care received was either good or very good.
• 97% of our outpatient population reported that they would recommend out services to others.
• 93% of our outpatient population reported that they either had no pain or a decrease in their pain during their treatment.

Our rehabilitation facilities regularly outperform other rehabilitation providers nationwide. According to statistics compiled by the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation, Allied Services ranks in the top 4% of 892 rehabilitation centers in the United States.

Referrals & Insurance

Patients need a prescription from their doctor in order to enroll in the pediatrics program at Allied Rehab and Heinz Rehab. Insurance coverage for this program is provided by most health insurance policies.
