Allied Services - Wellness Center

Exercise can be the best medicine. The Michael J. Aronica, M.D., Wellness Center at Allied Services and Heinz Rehab Fitness Center offer former patients and individuals in the community a specialized exercise program to maintain or improve their health. An exercise physiologist provides initial orientation and instruction, conducts fitness tests, prescribes exercise programs and oversees the program to provide assistance as needed, tracking the fitness progress against the desired goals. Exercise physiologists have been specially trained to work with individuals who are healthy or may be dealing with certain medical conditions.

Programs Available

A physician’s consent is required for participation in all programs. The following fitness and training programs are available at Allied Services Wellness Centers:

General Health and Fitness
For people who wish to maintain or improve their level of fitness for a better quality of life and general well-being.

Post-Rehab Exercise
For individuals with orthopedic, neurologic or back injuries who wish to continue and maintain their current level of fitness.

Diagnosis-Specific Exercise
For those with medical conditions including osteoporosis, diabetes, arthritis, pulmonary and heart disease who may require special attention when performing exercise programs.

Sport-Specific Exercise
For people who are training to improve or attempting to increase their capacity for a particular sport, such as golf, skiing, etc.

Group Exercise Classes

For people who want to get fit in a fun and friendly environment, led by trained exercise specialists and physiologists. For more information or cost on group exercise classes contact Kelly Martin-Johnson, Heinz Rehab at (570) 826-3738.

Dr. Myra Togut Center for Pediatric Fitness at Heinz Rehab in Wilkes-Barre

The Togut Center has been named in honor of Myra Togut, MD who served as Director of Pediatrics at Heinz Rehab for many years. It is a fitting memorial to Dr. Togut who advocated for programs that would allow children with disabilities the opportunity to interact with other children and afford them the possibility of a full and happy life. The Togut Center features:

  • Individualized programs
  • Screening and supervision by and exercise physiologist
  • Strength training
  • Aerobic exercise
  • Equipment specifically designed for pediatric and young adult populations
  • Rowing machine
  • Elliptical trainer
  • Moonwalkers
  • Aquatic exercise

Membership Information

Subscribing to the Aronica Wellness Center is easy and affordable, with a variety of membership types and discounts available.

Individual:

 monthly: $40 (Aronica Wellness) $45 (Heinz Rehab)
annually: $420 (Aronica Wellness)
Senior:

 monthly: $30 (Aronica Wellness)
annually: $340
Corporate or group dicounts available
Discounts are available for individuals on disability and subscribers to Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Geisinger Health Insurance. Silver & Fit and Forever Fit programs accepted.

To enroll in the program or for more information abuot the Aronica Wellness center, please call Aronica Wellness Center in Scranton at (570) 341-3051 and Heinz Rehab Fitness Center in Wilkes Barre at (570) 830-2065 . Note that a physician’s consent form is required for enrollment. Also, Post-rehab fitness is available at all of our outpatient rehab clinics. Contact each clinic for hours of operation and fees.
