Dr. Edward G. Zurad, MD, FAAFP, Associate Medical Director of Allied Services Hospice will address patients, residents and family members at an upcoming community presentation. The free event titled “Advance Care Planning” is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 27th at 11:00 a.m. at the Tunkhannock Senior Center. To attend, RSVP by calling 570-830-8928.
The presentation, which is open to the public, aims to help families avoid the stress of making end of life decisions without the input of their loved one or family member. Dr. Zurad will address the question of when and how to start the conversation about future medical care and making your end of life wishes known. Participants will learn how to identify what resources you may need (advance directives), how to identify wishes and how to plan for those wishes. They will also receive a free copy of “Five Wishes,” an easy-to-use legal document written in everyday language that lets adults of all ages plan how they want to be cared for in case they become seriously ill.
Dr. Zurad is Clinical Associate Professor at Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton and Clinical Associate Professor at Temple University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. He holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatrics. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and earned a Diplomate from the American Board of Family Practice.
