Philip A. Burne Jr. and the late Ralph J. Lomma to be Honored Through Ongoing Tributes
Allied Services Foundation Board of Directors paid tribute to two long-time board members today.
The two, Philip A Burne, Jr., and the late Ralph J. Lomma, who passed away on September 12, will be honored for their long-time board service to Allied Services through the establishment of two naming tributes. Burne, who prior to his retirement, was active as a downtown Scranton businessman operating the Card Hall on Spruce Street, will have his name affixed to the main lobby entrance at Allied Services corporate headquarters, The Philip A. Burne, Jr., Lobby.
According to Gerald B. Franceski, Chairman of the Allied Services Foundation, and William Conaboy, Esq., President and CEO, Phil Burne always shared a passion to ensuring that Allied Services buildings and grounds were meticulously clean and presentable for the many patients, visitors and employees who utilized them.
“The board chose to name its prominent headquarters? lobby in Phil?s honor to reflect his commitment to Allied Services and making sure that everything done here is always presented in a way that is organized and respectful for all those who enter our facilities,” noted Franceski and Conaboy.
For the late, long-time community advocate, Ralph Lomma, a leader in business, education, politics and the arts, Allied Services has established the Ralph J. Lomma Lecture Series.
Annually, in Lomma?s memory, Allied Services will engage national and international leaders to visit northeastern Pennsylvania to speak to business leaders, healthcare professionals, educators, patients and families about current healthcare and other important regional issues.
“No one was more active as a community leader than Ralph Lomma and our board felt strongly that incorporating his name into an educational lecture series fits perfectly with who he was and what he stood for,” noted Franceski and Conaboy.
Both Burne and Lomma joined Allied Services board in the mid-1980?s and served in leadership roles through 2011 on both the parent and subsidiary boards.
