Heinz Senior Rehab Care, Wilkes-Barre Township, has earned its second consecutive Five-Star rating from the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Nursing Home Compare program. Compare provides consumers with a searchable database that ranks nursing facilities on a scale of one to five stars based on three factors: State health inspections, staffing and quality measures.
Only two other Luzerne County facilities have the Five-Star (highest) rating. The “Compare” database includes any nursing home that accepts Medicare or Medicaid. Ratings are updated monthly.
Executive Director Ken Steenback said the new ranking reflects an ongoing, concerted effort by all members of the Heinz transitional care team. He noted that, for a relatively small unit like Heinz Senior Rehab (21 beds), averages can fluctuate based on a single positive or negative observation. “Our focus isn’t on ratings, but on doing the best for every patient, every single day.”
