Allied nurses are an integral part of our highly skilled interdisciplinary teams. Allied interdisciplinary care teams are dedicated to achieving the highest levels of functional independence, productivity, and quality of life for individuals who have disabilities resulting from trauma, neurological illness, congenital deficits, or disease.
As a rehabilitation nurse you will work with physiatrists, physical and occupational therapists, patient care resource managers, psychologists and speech pathologists in developing and implementing individualized plans of care to meet each patient's specific needs by:
- Assisting each individual with a disability to achieve optimum physical, social, emotional, psychological and vocational abilities
- Working closely with the patient, family, physician, and rehabilitation team
- Teaching patients and families how to maintain the best health outcomes
Allied is the place for you, if you:
- Prefer the close relationships that evolve through continuous contact with rehabilitation patients and their families, instead of acute conditions management in a fast-paced environment
- Believe that it is a privilege to support patients in their unique recovery goals, and to involve and empower them in care decisions
- Want the option to practice in a variety of inpatient, outpatient and program settings
- Want to coordinate a team and be the central point for communication and decision making
- Prefer to specialize in all sorts of areas such as spinal cord injury, brain injury, pediatric disabilities and more
- Desire a career ladder leading to challenging management positions
