100 golfers gathered at Glenmaura National Golf Club recently for the 23rd Annual Jack Newman Golf Classic. The tournament is held in honor of Jack Newman, an early leader at Allied Services and the late husband of Mrs. Joan Newman of Clarks Summit. Since it began, the tournament has raised more than $1 million for the vocational services division at Allied Services, a program which provides training and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. In 2014, the Jack and Joan Newman Training Center opened on the Stauffer Industrial Park, made possible through funds raised by the Jack Newman Classic.
Co-presenting sponsors Community Bank NA and Veritiv were present at the event and had the opportunity to meet a special guest, Bobby Robbibs. Robbins of Gibson brought home a Silver Medal in golf from the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles, Ca with the help of an Allied Services employee and Special Olympics volunteer, Jeff Snyder.
