Careers in Focus: Dietary Services

"It's a mission for me. I feel blessed to be working here," says Barbara, a Dietary Aide at Allied Services Meade Street Skilled Nursing in Wilkes-Barre. "I love serving the residents. For me, it's all about the food, and getting to know the residents one-on-one."

After earning a Bachelor's Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Marywood University, Barbara began a successful 23-year career, serving in various roles in the hotel and restaurant management industry. Later in her career, she moved into the long-term care sector, working for the Bureau on Aging and Wesley Village.

Barbara joined Allied Services in 2020 and quickly became a valuable member of the Dietary Services team. They work together with the facility's Registered Dietitian, Ann Marie Augustin, RD, LDN, to ensure that patients and residents receive nutritious, fulfilling meals suited to their individual needs.

Barbara lives in Forty Fort with her husband who is a social worker. She enjoys the team that she works with, and the opportunity to make someone's day.
